Staff Reporter

Kozhikode: An amended version of the Citizens’ Charter of the Kozhikode Corporation with modifications on municipal governance and services is getting ready for publication. It would be presented before the council this month, Kozhikode Mayor M. Bhaskaran told TheHindu here on Sunday.

One of the salient features of the revised edition would be that housing projects would be given approval within 25 days. The usual timeframe allotted for other services too would be advanced, he said.

Kozhikode Corporation published the Citizens’ Charter two years ago as an obligatory requirement under the Right to Information Act. Apart from the infrastructure of the local body, the charter also furnished details on rules and regulations, time frame for processing applications and measures to address grievances.

The charter also provides information on the responsibilities of statutory bodies as well as the rights of residents.

Conditions

Mr. Bhaskaran said that corporation would issue certificate of ownership, residence and transfer of houses within two, five and 15 days respectively. The process of allotting numbers to new buildings would take 30 days. However, this time-frame is for projects which comply with certain conditions.
