MALAPPURAM: The Government doctors in the district have called off their indefinite strike proposed to be launched from Monday. The withdrawal of the proposed strike came in the wake of a meeting the leaders of the Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) held with the staff in the office of the District Medical Officer (DMO) here on Sunday. The Government medical officers had threatened to launch an agitation from Monday in protest against the insult one of the medical officers suffered at the DMO office recently. Medical officer of Pothukal Primary Health Centre D. Gopalakrishnan was reportedly abused by a group of the employees at the DMO office. KGMOA district secretary U. Babu said that the strike was called off after the staff concerned expressed regret at the incident.
