Two men acquitted in rape case

New Delhi: A city court on Tuesday acquitted two men, charged with gang rape of their relative last year, after the woman deposed that the accused had done no wrong with her.

“A perusal of the statement of the victim would reveal that she has not levelled any allegations against any of the accused during her testimony,” Additional Sessions Judge Narinder Kumar said.

The court absolved Dheer Singh and Chote Lal, both in their early 30s, of the charges under Section 376 (2) (g) (gangrape) of the IPC.

A case was registered against the two with Sultanpuri police station here on February 10, 2006 on the allegation that they had committed rape with the woman.

Singh was brother-in-law of the woman while Lal was son of her elder brother-in-law.

In her complaint, the woman (28) alleged that the duo had ravished her on the fateful day when her husband was away to attend a familial function in Gurgaon.

The court, after recording statement of four prosecution witnesses, noted that the woman said that the two accused had done nothing wrong with her.- PTI
