New leaders greeted with applause School notes

BANGALORE: The atmosphere at the investiture ceremony of Holy Child School, Srinivasnagar, had an air of festivity when the elected leaders were appointed for 2007-08.

Principal Shobha Sathish pinned badges on the leaders and administered the oath. In her address, she told them to work in a spirit of cooperation and understanding. She said that the school conducts elections to make students understand the democratic process.

Candidates are allowed to canvass and they go to classes and share their thoughts with other students. On the day of the election, students stand in a queue and exercise their franchise.

Teachers count the votes and announce the names of the winners, which are all part of the normal election process. Goutham I. was elected school captain and Prerana P. vice-captain.

The new leaders promised to work in the best interests of the school abiding by and enforcing the rules of the school in order to preserve its high standards and traditions.

School parliament

The newly elected leaders of the higher primary section of Sri Vani Education Centre, Basaveshwaranagar, took the oath of office at a function held recently.

Principal A.S. Dixit and Vice-Principal R.H. Vani pinned badges and administered the oath to the new leaders.

Mr. Dixit told the young leaders to discharge their duties and responsibilities with conviction and maintain the reputation of the institution.

Ms. Vani congratulated the new leaders and told them to set an example to other students. Yashas Devasurmatt was elected boy captain and Sushitha girl captain.

World Environment Day

Skits, songs, speeches and dances marked World Environment Day celebrated at MES Kishora Kendra, Vidyaranyapura.

The programme created awareness on environment and the world they were living in. Students took a pledge to keep the surroundings clean and save the planet.

They presented two skits, “Save Trees” and “The Present and the Future”, depicting issues concerning the planet.
