The Hindu-NIE programme launched

With blessings: Fr. George Thomas Chelachal, Principal of Alphonsa Senior Secondary school, launching The Hindu-NIE programme.

Fr. George Thomas Chelackal, principal of Alphonsa Senior Secondary School, Thamarassery inaugurated the Newspaper In Education (NIE) programme of The Hindu in the school on Wednesday.

Fr. Chelackal in his inaugural speech spelled out the aims of NIE programme. Fr. Tomy K.M, vice principal, spoke on the role of newspapers in education. Sebastian K.V., a teacher, proposed the vote of thanks.

The NIE programme initiative aims to increase children’s proficiency in reading, writing, listening, speaking, mathematics, sciences and social studies. Modules have been carefully designed to suit the co-curricular needs of students of seventh, eighth and ninth standards.
