CHENNAI: Several memorials forming part of the Gandhi Mandapam campus on Sardar Patel Road in Guindy will soon sport a better appearance with the front stretch being identified for landscaping. The State Government is contemplating using the services of the corporate sector and nationalised banks in this regard. A meeting was held by Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi with government officials and representatives of the corporate sector and banks. It was decided in the meeting that the Public Works Department (PWD) would prepare a scheme on landscaping. This is expected to be ready in a month. Participants will only be permitted to take up landscaping. As regards the structure of the memorials, the PWD will continue to be in charge. As the Government is planning to add two more memorials on the campus, the landscaping of the area is expected to add greater attraction.
