Binita Toppo named captain

New Delhi: An 18-member Indian junior women’s hockey squad was selected for the tri-nation tournament to be held in Italy from August 1 to 5 on Saturday.

Binita Toppo has been appointed captain for the competition at Bra, in which Russia and host Italy are the other two teams.

The event will serve as preparation for the sixth women’s Asia Cup in Hong Kong from September 1 to 9 and the Olympic qualifying tournament in March-April next year.

The squad: Suniti Kispotta, Poonam Toppo, Joydeep Kaur, Binita Toppo (captain), Pushpa Pradhan, Rosalind Ralte, Meenakshi Saini, Amubi Devi, Manorama Devi, Eti Shrivastava, Saundrya Yendala, Poonam Malik, Anuradha Devi, Binita Xess, La lremruati, Ritu Rani, Kirandeep Kaur, Vandana Kataria.
