Squandering public money

In a recent incident a woman alleged that the kidney donated by her intended for transplantation to her husband was not done by OGH doctors and was sold. She rallied some mediapersons and politicians and demanded compensation from the Government. The politicians would have naturally asked for an enquiry into the allegations to find out the truth. But surprisingly, they demanded the Government to pay lakhs of rupees as compensation as if the kidney transplantation was contemplated for the sake of the country or society. Such operations are highly risky and the doctors would have explained to the relatives well in advance. The point of contention is whether the transplantation was really carried out with the donated kidney or any mischief was played. If something fishy is found on enquiry the guilty should be severely punished. More surprisingly, the Government came out with a proposal to provide a house and job for the kin of the deceased. Certainly this is bad governance. This is all done under the guise of welfare. One can extract anything from the Government provided he can gather some influential people.

The news item ‘GHMC lists traffic management measures’ makes interesting reading. I am happy to note that at last the GHMC is trying to find a permanent solution to traffic jams and transportation problems, which need immediate action by implementing the new traffic signals, use of flyovers, etc.

The GHMC has identified new locations for installation of traffic signals at most of the important places in the twin cities which includes Yousufguda check-post.

Here I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned that they forgot to include Yousufguda Basti where there are traffic jams almost every day. Neither is there a traffic signal nor a traffic police posted here. This road is used by many commuters for going towards Jubilee Hills, Yousufguda check post, Sri Krishna Nagar, Rahmatnagar, ESI etc. and also for going towards Srinagar Colony, Mehdipatnam, etc. Here the roads are very narrow and traffic gets stuck.

I request the authorities concerned to install traffic signal at Yousufguda Basti also which will ease the traffic jam problem once for all. I also request the authorities concerned to take up road widening work at Sarathi Studio for vehicles going towards S.R.Nagar, ESI, Sanathnagar, etc as one has to wait at least 10/15 minutes to cross this signal. The span of time for green light is very short compared to other sides.

Yousufguda Basti

Bus No. 99-K plies between Kacheguda Railway Station and Vanasthalipuram via Koti (W.College) at 6.25, 8.05, 9.50, 16.30, 18.10 and 20.00 Hrs from Kacheguda and at 5.35 (from Hyt Depot): 7.15, 9.05, 15.45, 17.25, 19.15 from Vanasthalipuram, i.e at intervals of 2 to 3 hours.

It starts at Vanasthalipuram Shopping Complex and traverses via Sampoorna Theatre/Rytu Bazaar, Sushma theatre, Panama Godowns and onwards to Kacheguda and returns via the same route and terminates at Shopping Complex.

Shopping Complex is an intermediate stage between Ganesh Temple and Saingar. Due to lack of bus facility to go to Kacheguda railway station via Koti, the people of these and surrounding colonies experience a lot of inconvenience and have to trudge about 1 to 1 1/2 k.m. to catch this bus at Shopping Complex. Similar is the case from Kacheguda Railway Station. People alighting from trains or other people who want to go to the above mentioned colonies have to alight at Sampoorna theatre/Rythu Bazaar and then trudge the distance.

The RTC authorities are requested to consider extending 99 K service.
