HYDERABAD: A conference of backward classes is being organised here on July 22 to discuss their problems and finalise a future plan of action. Announcing this here on Sunday, R. Krishnaiah, president, Andhra Pradesh State Backward Classes Welfare Association, said the conference would finalise an agitation programme to press the demands of BCs, like 50 per cent reservations in the legislatures. He said Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, Maharashtra Minister Chagan Bhujbal and State Ministers D. Srinivas, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, N.Raghuveera Reddy, Dharmana Prasada Rao and State-level BC leaders would attend the conference. He urged the Government to double the reservations for BCs from 25 per cent, to sanction special reservations for the 36 BC communities identified by the BC Commission. .
