Thiruvananthapuram: Short story writer John Samuel and television presenter Roshan Bijli have been selected for this year’s P. Kesavadev awards. While Mr. Samuel was chosen for the award for his short story titled ‘Chithabhasmam,’ Dr. Bijli bagged the Diabscreen Kerala award for his presentation of health awareness programmes on Indiavision. The award comprises a cash prize of Rs.10,000, a statuette designed by B.D. Dathan and a citation. Announcing the awards at a press conference here on Tuesday, office-bearers of the P. Kesavadev Trust said Mr. Samuel was chosen for the award for his pithy portrayal of social life in a creative manner. Dr. Bijli won the award for his fine presentation of health issues. The judging committee comprised trust patron P. Govinda Pillai, George Onakkoor, Desamangalam Ramakrishnan, Vijayakrishnan, Dr. Ahmed Pillai, Dr. P.G. Balagopal, trust chairperson Seethalakshmy Kesavadev and managing trustee Dr. Jyothi Dev. The awards will be given away at a function to be held here on July 23.
