Bakshi makes it to Asia-Pacific championship

NEW DELHI: India No. 3 Rahul Bakshi finished two strokes ahead of his nearest challenger Anirban Lahiri in the selection trials for the Asia-Pacific golf championship for the Nomura Cup.

At the Nomura Cup selection trials held at the Delhi Golf Club course, Bakshi shot a final round of 74 to finish with an eight-round tally of one-over 577. Lahiri also carded 74 on the final day to finish second at 579, while Chikkarangappa finished third.

The top three qualified automatically, while Joseph Chakola was picked by the selectors for the final spot.

The Nomura Cup is held biennially between the nations of the Asia-Pacific region and is the most important amateur tournament after the Eisenhower Trophy. The event will be held in Chinese Taipei from October 2 to 5.
