Thiruvananthapuram: Three persons were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents that took place in the NH 47 at Mangalapuram and Attingal on Saturday. A 60-year-old man was killed and two others injured in a car-van collision at Kurakode, near Mangalapuram, around 5 a.m. Hospital sources said the deceased had been identified as Ramesh Babu of Sarada Bhavan, Kodumon, Attingal. The accident took place when Ramesh Babu was returning after dropping his son-in-law at the airport. Car driver Sreekantan, 40, hailing from Attingal and Suresh, 21, of Attingal were injured in the accident. In the second incident, a person riding pillion in a motorcycle was killed when the vehicle collided with a private bus near the private bus stand at Attingal. According to the police, the deceased had been identified as Gopakumar, 48, Prabha Nivas, Sharkara, Chirayinkeezh. The accident took place around 4.30 p.m. Gopakumar was travelling in the motorcycle of one Jijo from Attingal to Chirayinkeezh when the accident took place. A cyclist was killed when he was knocked down by a speeding lorry near Gurunathankavu, Alamcode in Attingal police station limits on Saturday afternoon. Rural police said the deceased had been identified as Rajan.
