Charges framed in CGHS case

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A court here on Tuesday framed charges against seven persons in one of many cases registered in connection with the multi-crore cooperative group housing society (CGHS) scam.

Special Judge Gyan Prakash Mittal framed charges against officials of the Registrar of Cooperative Society -- Sreechand, Arun Sardar, Mohan Lal, Diwakar, Shree Dutt Sharma and Brij Nath Dhawan -- and also against private builder Anna Wankhede. They were allegedly involved in fraudulently reviving the Moonlight CGHS using forged documents.

In its charge-sheet, the CBI had said the accused revived the CGHS in 2000-01 which had become defunct in 1984 to get a land allotted by the Delhi Development Authority at much cheaper rates.
