Lakhpati scheme is a flop, says TDP

KADAPA: Lakhpati scheme introduced by the Congress Government benefited none in the State, Telugu Desam Party alleged on Wednesday.

While the TDP effectively implemented ‘Balika Samrakshana Scheme’, YSR Government made slight modification and rechristened it as Lakhpati scheme promising to deposit Rs. 1 lakh in the name of a girl child whose family adopted the small family norm and Rs. 30,000 to those who underwent FPOs after two girl children,

TDP political secretary B. Hariprasad alleged at a press conference.

Not a single family in the district benefited from Lakhpati scheme so far, he alleged.

Guidelines were not issued and even officials lacked proper understanding of the scheme, he alleged.
