Krishna Iyer lauds Kalam

Special Correspondent

KOCHI: Retired Supreme Court Judge V.R. Krishna Iyer has expressed happiness over the decision of outgoing President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to continue to serve the country after retirement.

In a letter to the President, Mr. Krishna Iyer said :

“I hold you in high esteem and hallowed glory and regard your halcyon tenure which is coming to a close, as a grand span of Presidential odyssey and palmy history of the great institution. You were simple, yet sublime; constitutionally submissive to the decisions of the Cabinet and yet independent in your advice and functions. Your national access to the people of India and progressive fulfilment of the supreme role of your noble office are a great paradigm. I am happy to learn that retirement from the Republic’s Presidentship notwithstanding, you will continue to serve the country. Your vision and mission are a creative asset and rare contribution to the future of Bharat. The country, as you have recently expressed in Hyderabad, is in the grip of a crisis and failure of values, and here comes the matchless magnanimity of your wisdom being placed at the disposal of the billions of humans who look to your progressive guidance.”
