ADILABAD: Adilabad Zilla Parishad chairman Rathod Ramesh on Monday sought immediate constitution of the District Planning Committee (DPC) in the interest of development of the backward district. He also wanted more powers to local bodies as per the relevant changes brought to the Panchayat Raj Act. Addressing the gathering at a felicitation function on the occasion of his completion of one year in office, Mr. Ramesh criticised the State Government for interference in the working of local bodies. Citing examples, he said the Revenue Department was increasingly interfering in the work of Mandal Parishad Development Officers with respect to Andhra Pradesh Employment Guarantee Scheme. He urged ZPTC members and mandal presidents to work for the betterment of rural people.
