PWD staff for special pay

PUDUKOTTAI: The Pudukottai district unit of the Public Works Department Ministerial Staff Employees’ Association has urged the State Government to sanction special pay equivalent to five per cent of the basic pay for record clerks and typists.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at its meeting here on Sunday. It also pleaded for immediate filling up of typists lying vacant for several years in various divisions of the department. The Chief Engineer (General) should take expeditious action for filling up the posts by recruiting the eligible persons registered with the Employment Exchange. The meeting also urged for counselling system to be introduced for transferring ministerial employees of the Public Works Department.

Resolutions pleading for tuition fees up to Plus Two course for wards of employees, fixation of pay scale for the junior assistants on a par with the secondary grade teachers, and fixation of pay scales for the assistants and superintendents as per the directive of the Supreme Court were also adopted.
