KARUR: Nothing gives me better satisfaction than honouring the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam veterans who have stood by the party and the leadership in crises and have made the party stronger with their sacrifices, said Local Administration Minister and DMK Deputy general secretary M. K. Stalin here on Monday. Presenting “porkizhi” to several party veterans and honouring them at a special function here, Mr. Stalin traced the origin and growth of the DMK since it was founded by the late Chief Minister C. N. Annadurai. Without the numerous sacrifices made by party workers who participated in many a struggle, suffered imprisonment and even repressive measures, the party would not have attained its current position of strength, he said. Their work should be made known to other party workers, particularly the younger generation, so that the youth could carry forward the flame of sacrifice. It was in this context that the series of functions to hand over “porkizhi” to party veterans assumed significance. Earlier, Mr. Stalin laid the foundation stone for the district party headquarters. Later in the night, he addressed a public meeting at Velayudhampalayam.
