Registrar blocked from entering office

Staff Reporter

MALAPPURAM: The Calicut University campus saw high drama on Thursday when a group of employees owing allegiance to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) blocked Registrar P.P. Mohammed when he came to reassume his office.

Dr. Mohammed, who was suspended by the Syndicate a few days ago, came to re-assume the office equipped with a court directive staying the Syndicate move. However, he was blocked by a group of Employees Union activists, who argued that the High Court order had only stayed the university proceedings for 10 days. A heated argument ensued when other employees owing allegiance to the Congress, IUML, and Communist Party of India (CPI) insisted that Dr. Mohammed be allowed to re-assume his office.
