Seminar on ‘legal assistance for land’ conducted

Kakinada: Poor people will lose confidence on the judiciary if the land problems are not solved expeditiously, cautioned M. Sunil Kumar Reddy, State legal coordinator of Society for the Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP).

Participating as the chief guest in the seminar on ‘legal assistance for land’ organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Law here, he said, land problems were on an increase and the lands belonging to poor and small farmers continue to be in the hands of land grabbers leading to frustration and unrest among the poor.

Financial assistance

In certain cases, he said, the lands distributed by the government were going out of the hands of the beneficiaries owing to their poverty.
