Kerala University’s sports calendar

The sports calendar of the University of Kerala for the 2007-08 season has been finalised. The calendar was finalised at the meeting of the physical education teachers which was presided over by the vice-chancellor K. Ramachandran Nair at the Senate Chamber on Wednesday.

According to the calendar, the sports activities of the university will begin on August 22 when Iqbal College, Peringhamala hosts the inter-collegiate baseball championships. The University Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram will host athletics from September 12 to 14. But Eugene Sunil, the director-in-charge of Physical Education, University of Kerala, said that the meet in all probability will be postponed as the work on the relaying of the track at the stadium has not yet begun. The calendar: Single zone: Baseball at Iqbal College, Peringhamala on August 22 and 23; Athletcs at University Stadium from September 12 to 14; Handball at University College, Thiruvananthapuram from October 3 to 5; Canoeing & Kaya king at St. Joseph’s College, Alappuzha on October 5; Rowing at St. Joseph’s College, Alappuzha on October 5; Basketball (women) at SNCW, Kollam on Ocobter 8 and 9; Gymnastics at LNCPE on October 12; Wrestling at LNCPE on October 26; Weightlifting, powerlifting and best physique at University Stadium on October 29 and 30; Hockey (women) at LNCPE on November 1; Boxing at University Stadium on November 2; Cricket (women) at DB College, Sasthamkottah on November 5 and 6; Table Tennis at College of Engineering, Tvm, on November 6 and 7; Kabaddi (women) at SNCW, Kollam on November 12 and 13; Volleyball (women) at St.Cyril’s College, Adoor on November 13 and 14; Fotball (women) at University stadium on November 15 and 16; Tennis at LNCPE from November 21 to 23; Bal badminton: NSS College, Karamana on November 26 and 27; Cycling at LNCPE on November 30; Chess at MG College, Thiruvananthapuram on December 3 to 6; Kho-kho at SNC, Chempazhanthy on December 6 and 7; Softball at MMNSS College, Kottiyam on December 10 to 12; Hockey (men) at Lncpe on December 13 and 14; Kho-kho (women) at Govt College for women, Thiruvananthapuram on December 17: Cross country at SNC, Cherthala on January 11.
