RSC ‘A’, Stanes lift titles
Coimbatore: Rajalakshmi Sports Club ‘A’ and Stanes AIHSS got past their opponents with ease to emerge the mini and junior champions of the 53rd YMCA basketball tournament for the S. Venkatakrishnan Trophy at the YMCA courts here on Thursday night.
Easy win
Rajalakshmi scored an easy 39-16 win over Stanes for the mini title, while Stanes struggled a bit before getting the better of Kikani HSS 64-58 for the junior title.
The results (final): Mini: Rajalakshmi SC ‘A’ 39 bt Stanes AIHSS 16. Juniors: Stanes AIHSS 64 (Gopi Krishna 31, Siddharthan 11) bt Kikani 58 (Shyam 21, Sandeep 15).
Sezhiyan scalps six
Bharath Sezhiyan grabbed six wickets for 33 runs to enable Coimbatore district gain a first innings lead of 25 runs on the first day of the two-day quarterfinal match of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association under-15 inter-district cricket tournament in Vellore on Friday.
The scores:
Coimbatore 162 in 44 overs (S. Karthik 25, Dheer Bimani 45, Bharath Sezhiyan 25 n.o., S. Prabhu five for 43, K. Muralidharan three for 34) and Vellore 137 in 46 overs (Goutham 69, Bharath Sezhiyan six for 33).
It’s Nishanth vs Swarap
Swarap Raj and Nishanth brushed aside the challenge of their opponents to enter the under-10 boys’ singles final in the Erode district ranking badminton tournament at the Yaley Hall in Erode on Friday.

U-10 (semifinals): Swarap Raj bt Dharun 21-16, 21-17; Nishanth bt S.C.S. Pranav 21-15, 21-13.
