Chennai: The Chennai Corporation will commence a deworming programme for schoolchildren on Monday. The Corporation will extend the programme for the first time to students of private schools. Earlier, the tablets (albendazole, 400 mg) was given to students of Corporation and government schools. About five lakh students, including children in child welfare centres, are expected to be covered by the programme, Corporation Health Officer P. Kuganantham said. Mayor M. Subramanian will inaugurate the programme in the Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School in West Saidapet. — Staff Reporter
