Following difference of opinion between two communities
VILLUPURAM: Following difference of opinion between two communities at Poottai in Sankarapuram block, the car procession of the Sri Mariamman temple was suspended on Saturday. At the peace committee meeting held last week, both the communities had agreed to take out the procession of the presiding deity in a “muthu pallakku” on Friday to Sembirambattu where Adi Dravidars are living. However, during the procession it was found out that the palanquin was too big to be taken inside Sembirambattu. Therefore, a section of the people decided to carry the deity on a wooden plank to the habitation, to which other section objected. So the revenue and police officials suspended the procession.
