Typhoid-testing kit

COIMBATORE: The Defence Research and Development Establishment, Gwalior, has developed a testing kit to detect typhoid in just three minutes. Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, A. Sivathanu Pillai, Chief Controller, Research & Development, DRDO, and Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, BrahMos Aerospace, the kit would give the exact reading in three minutes when blood was dropped into it.

“Blood has to be taken using the conventional method, with the syringe. But, the quantity of blood required is only two decilitres as against eight required for the conventional method.”
