Kakinada: East Godavari Collector M. Subrahmanyam has said that 50,000 youths in the district will be provided employment avenues in the next two years under the Rajiv Udyog Sri scheme.

Distributing certificates among 103 persons, who have completed training in various trades under the Indira Kranti Pathakam at the TTDC centre, Samalkot, on Sunday, the Collector advised the youth to get training in the trades of their interest and seek self-employment instead of awaiting government jobs.

He complimented the DRDA and the National Academy of Constructions for imparting training to the unemployed youth in various trades enabling them to secure employment. Ch. Kumar Swamy, project director, DRDA, said that last year 441 unemployed youths were given training in trades such as masonry, plumbing, electrical repairs and bar bending of whom 374 were now employed earning Rs.3,000 monthly.
