Mukherjee panel sweeps CAB elections

KOLKATA: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President, Prasun Mukherjee, ensured his panel swept the elections in the 76th Annual General Meeting at the Eden Gardens here on Saturday.

The sitting Joint Secretary, Saradindu Pal, and Assistant Secretary, Biswarup Dey, ostensibly supported by the Jagmohan Dalmiya group, were defeated as the two Mukherjee panel candidates, Samar Paul and Amitava Banerjee, won.

Paul polled 80 votes while Banerjee received 57 as against Saradindu Pal’s 40 and Dey’s 50.

Tushar Sarkar of Mukherjee panel was elected the Treasurer beating the incumbent, Shiv Kumar Kalyani. Sarkar polled 68 as against Kalyani’s 50.

The posts of the President and Vice-Presidents did not see election.
