Andhra Pradesh

Rooting out graft

The announcement of rewards to informants regarding corruption by the District Collector of Anantapur is a commendable step in rooting out corruption. But one is at a loss to comprehend the vehement criticism from some quarters of the employees unions. If the officers remain honest and determined, the subordinates will refrain from corruption. People need to extend their support to this move lest a corruption-free society be a waking dream.

Welcome step

This is with reference to the reported plan of Tamil Nadu Government to give three year advance course to candidates from all communities as temple priests.

I have visited many temples in remote villages and found that there are temples, where even the mandatory lighting of oil lamps is not being carried out due to non-availability of priests. . Many prefer to give modern education to their children among “Bramhims” community to improve their economic conditions. .

I request the Government of Andhra Pradesh also to impart such training to all communities
