Ashwin slams century

Chennai: Jolly Rovers all-rounder R. Ashwin scored his first century of the season on a rain-affected first day of the fifth round in the TNCA first division league.

No. 3 Ashwin (122, 193b, 13x4) and S. Vasanth Saravanan (82, 156b, 7x4, 1x6) added 175 in 48.1 overs for the third wicket and Rovers ended the day at 266 for four against Young Stars at the IIT-Chemplast ground.

IOB, inserted by Alwarpet, was struggling at 53 for six at MAC. V. Subramania Siva picked up four for 19 with his medium pacers.

At the MRF-Pachaiyappa’s ground, Indian Bank off-spinner Malolan Rangarajan scalped four batsmen as host Globe Trotters finished Sunday at 179 for six. Badri Attavar is batting on 38.

At MRF-Pachaiyappa’s: Globe Trotters 179 for six in 80 overs (Malolan Rangarajan four for 77) vs Indian Bank.
