Karunya clinches a double
Coimbatore: Karunya University pocketed the men’s football and badminton titles in the Coimbatore Inter-collegiate Athletic Association Games meet at the Bharathiar University premises here on Sunday.
Karunya defeated a fighting Maruthi College of Physical Education 3-2 via tie-breaker to regain the football title after a gap of five years.
And, among the 24 teams participated, Karunya turned out to be the only team to have not conceded a goal.
Straight set win
Earlier, Karunya ousted Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science in straight sets for the badminton title.

Men: Football (final): Karunya bt Maruthi CPE 3-2 (via tie-breaker). Semifinals: Karunya 3 bt PSGCAS 0; Maruthi CPE 5 bt CMS 4. Badminton (final): Karunya bt Bishop Appasamy CAS 2-0. Tennis (final): PSG Tech. bt Sri Ramakrishna EC 2-0. Semifinals: Sri Ramakrishna bt Maruthi CPE 2-0; PSG Tech. bt Amrita 2-0.
Saravana sparkles
Useful contributions by Saravana Kumar (81) and Sundaramoorthy (77) helped Sri Ramakrishna Mills Sports Club score a comfortable 81-run win over Sri Ramakrishna Cricket Trust in the Canara Bank-CDCA first division league for the Pricol Trophy at the SNR Sons ground here on Sunday.

Volleyball tournament
