Shiv Kapur finishes 37th

Hamburg: Shiv Kapur had a disastrous back nine with four bogeys and no birdies as he tumbled from 11-under to seven-under and slided to 37th after being in line for a top-10 finish in the Deutsche Bank Players’ championship of Europe.

Kapur was three-under for the front nine and then went four-over for the back stretch to finish one-over for the day and seven-under for the week.

Kapur birdied the first, seventh and eighth. On the back nine, he dropped shots on tenth, 12th, 13th and 18th.

The Indian golfer earned 24,840 euros and moved from 87th to 84th on Money List.

Romero triumphs

After almost pulling off a shock victory in the British Open, Andrs Romero won the championship. He was two shots clear with two to play at Carnoustie before missing the play-off by a shot. But this time the 26-year-old Argentine made no such mistake at a rain-soaked Gut Kaden to claim his first European Tour title.

Romero carded a closing 70 for a 19-under-par total of 269 to win by three strokes from England’s Oliver Wilson and Denmark’s Soren Hansen. Zane Scotland, the Englishman, struggled to a 76 for a share of 11th. — PTI
