“A mockery of democracy”

NEW DELHI: The All-India Forward Bloc on Wednesday charged that Goa Assembly Speaker Pratapsinh Rane violated constitutional and democratic principles by “manipulating the vote of confidence” and urged the Governor to intervene.

“The fraudulent method adopted by the Speaker reveals once again the ugly face [of] the Congress to hang on to power by manipulation,” party general secretary Debabrata Biswas said in a statement.

He said the Speaker’s action was “shameful and a mockery” of democracy.
