Letters to the Editor
As the nation prepares to celebrate 60 years of Independence, I wonder what difference the occasion will make to the victims and families of those Dalits who suffered the wrath of the so-called ‘upper’ castes in Tsundur village of Andhra Pradesh in 1991. It took 16 long years for the court to sentence 21 persons to life imprisonment for hacking Dalits to death in broad daylight. Only eight bodies were found and there is still no clue to the missing persons. It is shocking to see that many who participated in the killing are free because there is no evidence against them. If this state of affairs continues, there is no hope for the downtrodden and oppressed.
