Nuclear deal

The finalisation of the India-U.S. civil nuclear deal has ushered in a new era of strategic partnership between the two countries. It brings to an end the deadlock over the unveiling of the 123 document, as all the major apprehensions of India with regard to the U.S.’ intentions have been substantially addressed. The promise of uninterrupted fuel supply by the U.S. is indeed a major achievement of our foreign policy. The agreement has met all our requirements without jeopardising our national interest. But India should tread cautiously in future and not let itself come under pressure during the course of implementation of the deal.

India will no longer have to worry about shortage of nuclear fuel at any point of time. The deal will go a long way in improving relations between the two largest democracies.
