Kakinada: A large number of people from Perrajupet area, abutting the Nookalamma manyam in the city, laid seize at the Collectorate on Monday protesting over their shifting from the existing area. They were asked to vacate the place due to construction of railway fly-over Bridge. Earlier, they took out a protest rally in the main streets of the city, raising slogans in support of their demands under the aegis of the CPI Kakinada Area Committee. T.Madhu, Secretary of CPI Area Committee led the stir. They met the Collector and asked him not to shift the residents from the existing place without providing any other alternate site. They drew his attention to the facts that they were residing in the place for the past forty years and were paying house tax regularly, yet officials were making attempts to shift them without even serving the notices. AIYF district secretary Bojja Satti Babu, Mahila Samakhya leader Bala, CPI leaders Appanna, Goureswerarao, Nookarathnam, Saraswati addressed the demonstrators.
