Differences in Nellore Congress to the fore

Ms. Rajyalakshmi and Ms. Panabaka Lakshmi have been at loggerheads for a variety of reasons

GUDUR (NELLORE): Differences among Congress leaders came to fore at the five-day Public Information Campaign on Bharat Nirman, which began here on Tuesday, to highlight the welfare programmes launched by both the State and Central Governments.

The programme was held at the instance of Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaka Lakshmi in which Union Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare Renuka Chowdary was the chief guest. Though many elected representatives were present at the venue, Women and Child Welfare Minister in the State N. Rajyalakshmi left the venue even as the inaugural meeting was in progress and also before Ms. Renuka delivered her speech on the plea that she has to catch a flight to Hyderabad from Renigunta. Ms. Renuka was seen asking her to speak before leaving but Ms. Rajlayalakshmi declined.

It may be recalled that both Ms. Rajyalakshmi and Ms. Panabaka Lakshmi have been at loggerheads for a variety of reasons especially due to group politics.

State Information Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy also left the venue but after addressing the gathering.

Meanwhile, Ms. Renuka is said to have expressed her displeasure before local officials over the departure of a senior revenue official of the district who left the venue without informing her. Except a few, many speakers tested the patience of the gathering.

ZP Chairman Kakani Govardhan Reddy is one among the few, who gave a focused speech on women’s problems and short comings in the implementation of welfare schemes.

Many women were seen leaving the venue in the midst even as leaders on the dais continued to address them.

Heavy downpour in the morning too played a spoilsport by creating problems to the visitors.
