Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA), an organisation whose sphere of influence spreads across twin cities and surrounding districts and which has been raking in the ‘moolah’ for the Government by auctioning prime lands was left on the road this week, literally. It might be building the longest expressway and the prestigious ring road but clearly, the planning body was leaden footed in finding an alternative accommodation for housing its offices when the Government clearly stated that it would not go back in handing over the Paigah Palace for the American Consulate. Why did HUDA Chairman Sudhir Reddy wait till his staff started protesting when he has access to the Chief Minister? Another intriguing aspect - Why was the Swarnandhra complex in Ameerpet not considered at all? If it is due to ‘Vaastu’ concerns, how does the organisation expect others to take space in it? V.
