Screening tests for eye operations from Aug 22 Schoolchildren will be allowed to visit the train
VIZIANAGARAM: The Lifeline Express (hospital on wheels) with six coaches arrived here on Sunday. MP B Jhansi Lakshmi inspected operation theatres, recovery compartment, generator and conference coaches and surgical equipment.Surgeries for cleft lip and palate, ENT and polio would be performed free of cost by experts from Aug 24 to Sept 22, said Ms. Jhansi Lakshmi. The Rotary Club, Vizianagaram would make all the arrangements for the visiting patients. Later, at a review meeting with officials, the MP thanked entrepreneurs who donated Rs. 7.5 lakhs for medicine and electricity charges to the Rotary Club. The Collector instructed the District Medical and Health Officer to conduct screening tests for eye operations from August 22. The operated patients would be shifted to the district headquarters hospital for post-operative care.Now, the train was hauled to Gokapeta area to display it as an exhibit for school children. Collector B. Kishore, SP Vikram Singh Mann and Rotarians Kasi Viswanatham, Subba Raju, M. Rama Rao and Tirumala Prasad were present.
