Option registration starts at 10 a.m. on Thursday

Options can be registered till 9 a.m. on August 30

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Course / college options for engineering / medical seats can be submitted on the web site cee.kerala.gov.in from 10 a.m. on August 16, a press note issued by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) here on Monday said.

All options registered between July 10 and 25 now stand cancelled. So, students will have to register their options afresh now. Options can be registered till 9 a.m. on August 30.

The CEE will make allotments to government and aided colleges, private self-financing colleges that have entered into agreements with the Government (39 engineering colleges, three medical colleges, 11 dental colleges, seven ayurveda colleges, one sidha college and four nursing colleges), self-financing engineering colleges under the Government (IHRD, LBS, CAPE, CCE), Cooperative Medical College, Kochi, and to professional colleges under the Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi and Calicut universities.

Options will not be accepted now to medical colleges not approved by the Union Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

If these colleges get the approval, the options for their seats will be included in the second round of allotment.

In self-financing colleges under the Government, those under the universities and in private self-financing colleges the government quota of seats will be 50 per cent. In colleges with minority status and in those under the Muslim Education Society (MES), 20 per cent of the 50 per cent government seats will be for the management’s community. In the rest of the seats, admissions will be on the basis of the Government’s reservation norms.

The CEE will make allotments to 35 per cent of the management seats in self-financing colleges under the Government and the universities.

However, at the Sree Chithra Thirunal College of Engineering, Pappanamcode, the CEE will make allotments to only 25 per cent of the management seats.

Fee structure

Engineering: In private self-financing engineering colleges, the fee for the 50 per cent government seats will be Rs.38,700.

The fee for the same category of seats in self-financing colleges under the Government and the universities will be Rs.6,200. In 35 per cent of the management seats in these colleges, the fee will be Rs.38,700.

Medical: At the MES medical college, Perinthalmanna, the fee for the government seats will be Rs.1,30,000, while at Dr. Somervel Memorial CSI Medical College, Karakkonam, the fee for government seats will be Rs.1,38,000.

At the Academy of Medical Science, Pariyaram, the fee for these seats will be Rs.1,30,000. At the Cooperative Medical College, Kochi, the fee for government seats will be Rs.12,225 while the fee in 35 per cent of the management seats will be Rs.1,30,000.

For the BDS course, the fee for government seats in private self-financing colleges will be Rs.87,000 and the fee for these seats for the BAMS course in self-financing colleges will be Rs.50,000. For the BSMS course in self-financing colleges, the fee in government seats will be Rs.45,000. For the B.Sc. Nursing course, the fee for government seats in private self-financing colleges will be Rs.49,400, the press release said.

If the fee is increased following the orders of the High Court or any other competent authority, the students will have to pay the revised fee. If on the other hand this fee is reduced the managements will pay back the excess fee charged.

The Government has passed orders reserving seats for the following category of candidates in self-financing engineering colleges under the Government: Ex-servicemen (EX) — 3 seats; children of defence personnel (SD) — 6 seats; dependents of servicemen who died during war, went missing or incapacitated (DK) — 2 seats; NCC (CC) — one seat.
