TULSA (USA): Three-time Major winner, Ernie Els, served notice that he can challenge for major championships once more even though he settled for a third-place finish on Sunday at the 89th PGA golf championship. Els, who began the last round six strokes off the pace, fired a four-under par 66 to finish third on five-under 275, three strokes behind eventual winner Tiger Woods but with a new confidence that he can push the World No.1. “There’s a lot good in my game. I’m not quite where I think I can be but if I get up to this next level where I want to be, maybe I can at least give him a real go, a run for his money,” Els said. “Because somebody needs to step up. He’s playing some awesome golf.” That came from a re-energised competitor who 24 hours earlier had said statistics would tell you no one could catch Woods.
