ADILABAD: Increasing visits of VIPs to the temple town of Basar in Adilabad is posing problems for policemen who are supposed to provide them security locally.

This fact came to light during the half-yearly meeting to review crime in the district that was attended by Karimnagar range Deputy Inspector-General of Police N. Chandra Mouli, district Collector Ahmad Nadeem, Principal District Judge K. David Wilson, Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar and others.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) M. Ashok Kumar urged the district Collector sanction of a guesthouse at Basar to be used exclusively by the policemen on duty there.

He said there was no place for police personnel to stay during rest hours. He also urged for sanction of a marriage and other function hall at Adilabad town, a guesthouse at Mancherial and compound wall for police station at Neelvai and Armed Reserve headquarters Bellampalli. Besides, he also requested grant of houses under Indiramma to police personnel.

Collector’s assurance

Mr. Ahmad Nadeem assured to look into the matter. He lauded the role of policemen in society.

Mr. Anil Kumar asked the police officers to curb property offences. He said police should keep tabs on known property offenders in respective areas.
