KOCHI: Considering the increase in consumption of eggs in the State, the Kerala Poultry Development Corporation is planning to launch packed eggs in the market, Kamala Sadanandan, chairperson of the Corporation has said. Ms. Sadanandan said that the objective was to provide quality eggs at reasonable price to the public. She pointed out that experts in the veterinary field had opined that eggs weighing at least 45g were considered of good quality. As such the Corporation would be offering such eggs in packets, she told reporters at Paravur near here. She said that the Corporation had invited tenders for the collection of eggs. The packed eggs to be launched by the Corporation would cost at least 15 paise per egg less than the price in the open marker. Ms. Sadanandan said that the Corporation would make available more rabbit meat and turkey meat in the market. In order to ensure the availability of good quality chicken feed, factories for producing chicken feed would be opened in Kottiyam and Kudapanakkunnu. Besides, a chicken farm would also be opened at Mala.
