16 Pakistani militants released from jails

Jammu: Giving a fillip to the India-Pakistan confidence-building measures, 16 Pakistani militants were released from eight jails in Jammu and Kashmir and repatriated to their country on the eve of the 60th Independence Day.

The militants affiliated to the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Harkat-e-Jehadi Islami (HUJI), Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) have completed their prison terms.

Illegal border crossing

Those released from the Kot Bhalwal jail were Mohmmad Billal alias Billu of Gurki (Lahore) and Umar Din codenamed Amjad of Kyian Sharief, Muzaffarabad (PoK).

They were arrested for illegal border crossing and completed 10 years of jail term.

Javed Akhtar Abbasi alias Arslan of Rawalpindi (PoK) and Tariq Hussain alias Irfran Shah of Mandina Market, Muzaffarabad (PoK), were freed from the Sanroor (Punjab) jail.

Two realeased from Jodhpur Jail

Two others, Mohmmad Sharief Haidri alias Sharief of Baggindhan, Faisalabad (PoK), and Shekhawat Hussain Shah of Challan (PoK) were freed from the Jodhpur Jail.

Sofi Jamal alias Mushtaq of Muzaffarabad (PoK) and Mohmmad Ramzan Ansari alias Vikas Khan Afghani of Jarranwali, Faisalabad, were also released.

The others freed included Sajjad Khan of Rawalakote (PoK), Mohmmad Akram Balouch of Quetta (Balochistan) and Mohd. Ishfaq Rajput of Sialkote (PoK) from jails in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. — PTI
