‘Arogya Sri’ launch on Nov. 1

VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Forest S. Vijayarama Raju has said that ‘Arogya Sri’ will be implemented in the district from November 1.

Delivering the Independence Day message after unfurling the National Flag at the Police Grounds here on Wednesday, Mr. Raju said that the government, as part of welfare measures, launched the Rs. 84-crore protected water supply scheme for 296 villages in five mandals in Cheepurupalli constituency.

Indiramma houses

While detailing other schemes, the Minister said that construction of 32,000 houses out of 69,000 sanctioned in the first phase under Indiramma was completed. In the second phase, 91,000 houses were sanctioned. In the four municipalities, out of 10,300 houses sanctioned 1,232 houses were completed, he said. With regard to irrigation projects, Mr. Raju said that works on Peddagedda and Jhanjhavathi were nearing completion.

With a view to encouraging women groups, fashion technology, at a cost of Rs. 13 crores, was launched. Some 7,000 members of women groups were being given training in fashion technology, he added.

March past

Earlier, he inspected the march past by APSP battalion constables. After presenting merit certificates to 83 officials, he distributed assets worth Rs. 7.74 crores to 890 beneficiaries. Children from various schools presented cultural programmes.
