VISAKHAPATNAM: Issue of out-patient (OP) tickets has been computerised at the King George Hospital from Wednesday. Issue of in-patient tickets would also be computerised soon, The National Informatics Centre located in the Collectorate developed the software free of cost for the issue of OP tickets and would also develop the software for the in-patients tickets and this facility would be introduced soon, said KGH Superintendent T. Ravi Raju. Earlier, after receiving an OP ticket, a patient had to go to another counter to get the number of department he or she had to visit stamped on the OP ticket. But this number would also be printed on the computerised ticket, reducing the time spent at the counters. One computer each would function for the men and women patients. Both systems were inter-connected. Three employees from the administrative section of the KGH would operate the computers. On an average about 1,000 new OP tickets are issued every day at the KGH and computerisation would reduce the delay. Foolproof method
Computerisation would also help in recording patients’ details in a foolproof manner, said Dr. Ravi Raju. Earlier the details, including the name of the patient, were not noted down properly and the record books were often found damaged. A generator would be made available for the OP tickets counter and the Casualty Ward to ensure uninterrupted power supply. Pharmaceutical companies donated four computer systems for the OP ticket counter and KGH arranged two printers. NIC had also agreed to make the biometric system of attendance registration function again. The software of the system was damaged but NIC would provide the same free of cost. Telephone directory
