I-Day: prizes distributed to students

KARAIKAL: Independence day was celebrated with gaiety and fervour in Karaikal district in the Union Territory of Puducherry on Wednesday.

Minister for Social Welfare, Puducherry, M. Kandasamy hoisted the national flag and took the salute at the police parade at the New Stadium here. Collector N. Vasantha Kumar,

Senior Superintendent of Police, Karaikal, Sindhu Pillai were among those who attended.

The Minister distributed prizes to students who secured top marks in the SSLC and Plus Two public examinations held in March this year.

ONGC function

K. Anjaneyulu, GGM-Asset Manager, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Cauvery Asset, Karaikal, hoisted the national flag on the Cauvery Asset premises at Neravy.

Mr. Anjaneyulu inspected a parade by ONGC security personnel and ONGC schoolchildren.

Achievements

Highlighting the Corporation’s achievements, he cited the various welfare schemes implemented by it for the benefit of different scetions of society.
