Kakinada: The AMG International of Germany donated Rs. 55 lakhs worth medical equipment to government general hospital at a function here on Friday. Collector M. Subrahmanyam, who is also chairman of the hospital development society, welcomed the gesture of German philanthropist Heichman. The Collector said that Mr. Heichman had donated Rs.1 crore worth equipment such as CT scan and colour Doppler in the past. He said new buildings would come at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.5 crores to house ENT ward, HIV/AIDS block and psychiatry ward by March next. Responding to the request of the hospital superintendent, he said one hundred ceiling fans would be supplied to the hospital in a week. Mayor K. Saroja, Sampara MLA A. Bullebbai Reddy attended.
