36-hour protest seeks scrapping of G.O. 508

VIZIANAGARAM: Panchayat Raj engineers on Friday launched the 36-hour ‘maha dharna’ at the Zilla Parishad seeking scrapping of G.O. 508. Employees, teachers and workers’ unions expressed solidarity with the striking engineers.

Eye screening

Screening for eye operations will be conducted at Lifeline Express (hospital on wheels), which is now stationed at Gokapeta, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 21, 22 and 23. After screening, dates for operations, if necessary, will be fixed, according to officials. While the Transco provided electricity, the R&B Department would construct a ramp for the convenience of patients.

The municipality would supply drinking water to the visitors, officials said.
