PATNA: The flood situation in the State deteriorated on Saturday with rivers breaching their embankments flooding villages and overtopping national highways. The Patna-Muzaffarpur has come under water as was National Highway 28 in West Champaran district. The Ganga has flooded several villages in Naugachia in Bhagalpur district. Seasonal rivers have flooded the township of Kishanganj and Forbesganj in Araria. The Baya river has submerged half a dozen villages in Vaishali district. In the wake of heavy rain, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s ancestral home in Kalyan Bigha in Nalanda has partially collapsed. Two people died in a boat tragedy in Rako village in Khagaria district. Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur reported three and two deaths taking the death toll in the state to 318.
