Chennai: The Chennai Corporation has commenced soil profile testing at project sites for four flyovers proposed this year.

Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin had announced the projects during the Assembly session in April. The junctions of Thiruvanmiyur–Lattice Bridge Road; Madhya Kailash; Basin Bridge Road–Cochrane Basin Road and Mint Street had been selected for the flyovers.

The Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited had given the project design consultancy to Wilbur Smith Associates for south Chennai flyovers. The firm has commissioned Geo Global Consultants for soil testing work. Mukesh Associates is the design consultants for north Chennai flyovers.

The flyover design, alignment and project costs could be worked out only after collating soil test results, said an official. After preparing the designs, bids would be invited for construction. The firm selected would be given 15 months for project implementation.

The mini-flyover projects at North Usman Road–Kodambakkam High Road; G.N. Chetty Road–Thirumalai Pillai Road; Turn Bulls Road–Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar Road and South Usman Road–Doraisamy Road intersections are in progress.
